40th week of the Pregnancy – Baby size and weight

Baby on the 40th week of pregnancy:

In the 40 weeks pregnant, the size of the baby is about 51-52 cm and the weight is 3400 grams. Week 40 is the week that is normally the exact time of birth. Some of the babies were born before the 40th week, but some of them will be on the mother’s womb this week. Rarely, some babies birth does not occur in this week and reach the 41st week.
Even if the baby have come this week, the newborn baby will only be able to see close to 2.5 centimeters, and the farther away it will be very blurry. For this reason, she can not even see the face of her mother. She tries to recognize her mother’s voice.
In these weeks there is not much change except to gain weight in the baby; Mother, father and family usually deal with childbirth preparations and plans.

Although some of the pregnancies have gave birth until the 40th week, some of them is still wait patiently for the labor pain to begin. It is called “Post-term Pregnancy – Prolonged Pregnancies” when the 40th week of birth is not started. After this week, pregnant may need to take medication for labor induction. However, during the 40th week these medications are often not needed, and it is expected that the mother will start spontaneous labor pain. If there is no reduction in amnion fluid, if heartbeats is normal in NST and there is no problem in other examinations, tight consecutive pregnancy is follows up.

As the days go on, the weight of the baby also increases a little, so the birth after this week may rarely be a normal obstacle to birth. For this reason, estimated weight measurement and amnion fluid measurement continue in these weeks.
