Burch Surgery – Burch Colposuspension (Stress incontinence)

The Burch operation is one of the surgeries for stress incontinence problems. The purpose of the Burch colposuspension is to remove the urinary incontinence problem by bringing the urinary bladder (urine bag) and the urethra into their normal places. Surgery is usually performed with a transection (such as a caesarean section) transversally from the lower abdomen, but there are laparoscopic surgery hospitals.

The gynecologic disease (stress incontinence ) surgery can be performed by general or spinal anesthesia. After surgery, the urinary catheter usually remains attached for 1-2 days and then removed. The average length of hospital stay after surgery is 1-2 days.
