Laparoscopic Ovarian Drilling (LOD)

Laparoscopic ovarian drilling (LOD) is a surgical procedure performed in order to regulate ovulation and increase the chances of pregnancy in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome with ovulation irregularity. The ovaries of the patient are burned in the form of small holes of 4-5 points with electrocautery or laser instruments.

Laparoscopic ovarian drilling is not performed on every policystic over syndrome patient, especially in patients who do not respond to drugs that stimulate ovulation, and they are also used for weight loss. There are some studies showing that after LOD administration, the drugs that stimulate ovulation are more successful and that in vitro fertilization is more successful.

Since the procedure is done laparoscopically, general anesthesia is applied to the patient and the patient can return to normal life in a very short time after the operation. The patient is usually discharged 1 day after the operation.
