Emergency contraception has side effects that need to be known. Morning after pill’s, hormone-containing medicines, they may have some side effects but they are temporary and do not expect a permanent and significant side effect. The most common morning after pill’s side effects are nausea and vomiting. This is particularly evident in the combination of estrogen and progesterone hormones. Only progesterone-containing pills are advantageous in this respect, no nausea or vomiting so much.
Another side effect is the irregularities such as delayed menstruation, spotting, drop-on-bleeding or decrease in the amount of mens after these morning after pills have been taken. These effects are only seen that menstrual cycle and temporary, in the following months menstruation will go into normal order. Significant that the menstrual delay is not immediately connected to the side effect of the pill, and the menstrual delay may be due to pregnancy. For this reason pregnancy test should be performed if there is a menstrual delay.
Morning after pills side effects such as fullness, swelling, tenderness in the breasts and headache may also be seen temporarily, as in other hormone-containing medicines.
